eligibility, application and requirements
ALPHA is aimed at all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who have a strong interest and talent in science, mathematics, engineering and technology, and who want to explore these areas further in their free time. Applications are made individually by each student and their guardian, without the participation of the candidate's school. Applications must be submitted through theTreeTree2 application platform, by September 21, 2025. We do not expect to have spots for all interested students in this ALPHA quarter. We are doing our best to open new spots in January, in the following quarter. In January, priority may be given to students who applied now and did not get a spot.

Age and Grade Requirements
Students must be enrolled in 6th, 7th or 8th grade in the 2025/2026 school year.
Academic Prerequisites
There are no academic prerequisites for ALPHA, but as a program for highly interested and motivated students in Science and Mathematics, priority will be given to students with better achievement in these subjects.
Required Skills and Interests
Portuguese language proficiency is mandatory. English is not required, but we expect students to finish the two years of ALPHA with a basic command of English: the language of Science. Students do not need to have had previous contact with programming.
Availability and Commitment
Participation in all eleven sessions is mandatory: 6 in-person and 5 online. In addition to this availability, the program assumes that students allocate one hour every week for autonomous learning.

No documents are needed during the application. If a spot is awarded to the candidate, submission of identity confirmation documents, school evaluations, and proof of eligibility for School Social Action may be requested, in case financial support for tuition is requested.
selection process, confirmation and onboarding
By June 29, candidates and their guardians will receive an email with the result of the application to the ALPHA program.
If accepted, it will be necessary to confirm enrollment and proceed with tuition payment. After confirmation, students will receive access to ALPHA online platforms, where they will find the first materials and instructions for the beginning of the course.
Participating in ALPHA requires a serious commitment, both in in-person and online sessions, focusing on exploring science, computing and mathematics.
